Arbutus

About

I work at the intersection of how operations actually run and what it takes to ship useful tools — not slide decks — on a realistic timeline.

I am Marc Charbonneau. I started Arbutus Visual Analytics to help teams close the gap between the data and workflows they already have and the tools they never quite get around to building.

Seven years as a CPC Technologist at BC Hydro gave me a grounded view of how large, safety-critical operations work: tight crews, legacy systems, constant change, and innovation debt that is nobody's fault — it is a consequence of running lean.

I am completing a Master of Management in Analytics at McGill University, which rounds out the field experience with structured methods in data, modeling, and decision-making — always in service of something a team can adopt.

Away from the desk I am an outdoors enthusiast and drawn to adventure in general — surfing, skiing, mountain biking, and time outside with a camera — let's get outside together!

I take on a small number of engagements at a time so work stays hands-on. If your problem sounds like unused data, brittle manual process, or a broken line of sight between the field and leadership, I would like to hear from you.
